Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, Centerville has a total area of 2.4 mi². 2.2 mi² of it is land and 0.3 mi² of it is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 3,202 people, 1,077 households, and 878 families residing in Centerville. The population density was 1,486.5/mi². There were 1,094 housing units at an average density of 507.9/mi². The racial makeup of the city was 96.72% White, 0.25% African American, 0.44% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.44% of the population.

There were 1,077 households out of which 50.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.8% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% were non-families. 13.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.97 and the average family size was 3.28.

In Centerville the population was spread out with 33.6% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 42.8% from 25 to 44, 15.2% from 45 to 64, and 3.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 105.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.3 males.

The median income for a household in Centerville was $63,696, and the median income for a family was $67,336. Males had a median income of $42,371 versus $31,474 for females. The per capita income for the city was $23,113. About 0.6% of families and 2.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.7% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
